This vineyard is situated in the hills above the township of Clarendon, planted in 1920. The wine from here is always very aromatic, lovely scents of cherry, plum with lavender and basil notes in the background. The wine is always one of the most attractive wines in the portfolio.
Situated just across the road from the Clarendon Old Vines Grenache Vineyard but on much harder ground facing north. The wine here is quite austere in its youth developing slowly but positively. Always shows lots of spice on the nose, marzipan also, and a palate which is long and tightly focused with abundant white pepper and Asian spices in the aftertaste. This wine needs cellaring to unravel all of its mysteries.
This vineyard is in the Blewitt Springs area and always produces deeply coloured and very rich wine with full upfront raspberry fruit and a long aftertaste with abundant tannin in the finish. This wine repays cellaring very well as the 91’ and 92’ are maturing slowly.
Planted on quite sandy soil with a flatter gradient, the wine is early to ripen and always shows its characteristic raspberry/plum, blackberry fruits intertwined with mint and other herbs. A very voluptuous wine which is always a real crowd pleaser.
