Piggott Range Syrah

About This Wine

The Piggott Range vineyard is a part of Clarendon Hills’ ‘Grand Cru’ classification.

Unrivalled in its height and breadth of structure, this brooding and multi-dimensional cuvee demands a minimum of 15 years in a cold cellar to begin to emerge from its hermit shell.

Viscous in concentration and mouth feel but progressive in respect to character illumination, it has presence and aristocracy but sadly requires many years to develop and emerge. Recommended cellaring for a minimum of 15 years and enjoy for 50.

About This Vineyard

Planted in 1965, in 2 inches of rich red loamy top soil. The slab of pure rock that lies beneath limits the vigor of the vines and appears to concentrate all components of the fruit - flavour, colour, tannin. The vineyard produces a intensely complex and long-lived syrah.  It is considered a ‘Grand Cru’.
