Brookman Merlot

This wine forms part of Clarendon Hills’ ‘Premier Cru’ classification.

Rich and fleshy, this multi-layered and savoury-focused expression pays homage to the great wines of Pomerol. The dark chocolate/cocoa backbone hinges a perfume of lifted black berries and cherries; a la Cherry Ripe sans sugar.

This vineyard was planted in 1965 in rich, chocolate-brown clay soils. It produces cabernet, merlot and syrah varieties which all exhibit sweet, chocolate, earthy characteristics. The merlot patch is typically the earliest to ripen on this property.
