Clarendon starts its v2009 harvest
by Author on 26 February 2009
Minute crops and tight little bunches are the hallmarks of this years crop. Drought conditions have impacted vineyard yield and estimates average a 30-40% reduction on a common year. Absolutely perfect conditions throughout the harvest period saw a fluctuation of ideal 25º autumn and cooler, misty conditions making for one of the best vintages ever. Fantastic acidity and flavour saw the vines picked at slightly lower beaume, with the colour of the raw wines a remarkable fluorescent purple, almost opal- like shades of purple. Overall report being a superb, classic vintage but miniscule quantities.
